Hot Milk Sponge Cake Recipe

This is an old family recipe I tried for the first time last night, and it did not disappoint! The cake came out super spongy and moist. My mom recommended making chocolate icing which would have been perfect! However since my husband isn't a fan of chocolate icing I opted out for simple powdered sugar and used a bunny cookie cutter to make the bunny shape. It was perfect and light for Easter breakfast. The recipe didn't denote baking time so I put it in for 30 minutes then monitored it from there until a toothpick inserted in the center came out clean.

Melt in a saucepan 2 tablespoons of butter Add 1 cup milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla

Remove from heat and let it cool a bit

Beat together: 4 eggs 2 cups sugar

Sift together then add to the above mixture: 2 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking powder

Add the warm milk mixture to the batter. Bake in a well greased and lightly floured cake pan Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center.
